What Is 1.2316 Tool Steel?
1.2316 (X38CrMo16) is a martensitic, corrosion-resistant mould and tool steel developed for applications where conventional tool steels are compromised by moisture, aggressive resins, or corrosive process environments. Its elevated chromium content, typically 15.5 to 17.5%, delivers excellent polishability and outstanding resistance to pitting corrosion, making it the preferred choice for long-run plastic injection moulds and food-grade tooling.
