Beryllium Copper Alloy

Looking for any kind of help ?

Beryllium Copper Alloy, specifically the high-strength grade C17200, stands as a premier material in the world of non-ferrous metals. This precipitation-hardenable alloy offers an unmatched combination of mechanical strength, hardness, electrical conductivity, and corrosion resistance, making it indispensable for critical applications across demanding industries. It achieves a strength level comparable to many high-grade alloy steels while retaining beneficial copper properties. As a leading supplier and stockist in the UAE, Nifty Alloys LLC provides a comprehensive inventory of C17200 Beryllium Copper in forms such as sheets, rods, bars, and plates. We deliver mill-certified materials to clients in the UAE and across the globe, ensuring your projects are built with precision-engineered alloys that perform without compromise.

What is Beryllium Copper Alloy?

Beryllium Copper (BeCu), also known as Copper Beryllium (CuBe), is a family of high-performance copper alloys, with beryllium as the primary alloying element. The addition of beryllium transforms standard copper into a high-strength copper alloy with remarkable characteristics. This material is celebrated for its exceptional combination of properties that are not typically found together in a single alloy.

Key attributes of beryllium copper include:

  • Exceptional Strength: It is the strongest of all copper-based alloys, with tensile strength that can exceed 1400 MPa after heat treatment.
  • High Conductivity: While not as conductive as pure copper, it offers excellent electrical and thermal conductivity for a high-strength alloy.
  • Corrosion Resistance: It exhibits outstanding resistance to a wide range of corrosive environments, including seawater and industrial chemicals.
  • Fatigue Resistance: The material can withstand repeated stress cycles without failure, making it ideal for springs and connectors.

The most common and highest-strength grade is designated as UNS C17200, often referred to as Alloy 25. This grade contains approximately 1.6% to 2.0% beryllium and is the focus for most high-performance engineering applications. Its unique ability to be fabricated in a soft, ductile state and then age-hardened to achieve its peak strength provides significant manufacturing advantages.
