What is EN19T Alloy Steel?

EN19T (BS970: 709M40T) is a high-quality chromium-molybdenum alloy steel known for its:

  • High tensile strength (around 850–1000 N/mm²)
  • Excellent toughness & shock resistance
  • Good ductility and wear resistance
  • High fatigue strength

The “T” condition indicates the steel has been supplied in the quenched and tempered condition, giving it superior mechanical performance compared to untreated grades.

This makes EN19T a preferred material for critical, high-stress components such as gears, shafts, bolts, connecting rods, crankshafts, and high-load fasteners.
