EN16T alloy steel supplier  | Nifty Alloys

<p>Known as a commercially popular ‘all-rounder’, EN16 (605M36T) is a low alloyed manganese-molybdenum through-hardening steel. Offering high strength and tensile characteristics, EN16 displays similar mechanical properties to EN8 but benefits from improved frictional wear, shear loading, and shock resistance. EN16 is considered to be a viable alternative to other steel specifications containing chromium and nickel. EN16 (605M36T) also offers excellent ductility and is readily machinable.</p>

Commonly used for general engineering applications EN16T is suitable for applications such as high tensile shafts, bolts and nuts, gears, pinions spindles and the like.

Analysis

Annealing

This steel grade is commonly supplied ready heat treated. If further heat treatment is required annealed EN16 should be heated slowly to 840-870°C and after adequate soaking at this temperature quench in oil. Temper as soon as tools reach room temperature.

Hardening

Heat carefully to a suitable temperature selected by reference to a tempering chart or table. Soak at the temperature for 2 hours per 25mm of ruling section, then allow to cool in air. Tempering between 250-375°C is not advised as tempering within this range will seriously reduce the impact value.

<h2>EN24T Alloy Steel Supplier &amp; Stockist in UAE</h2><p>EN24&nbsp;is usually supplied in the finally heat-treated condition (quenched and tempered to “T” properties) up to a limiting ruling section of 250mm, which is superior to grades 605M36, 708M40 or 709M40 – see properties below. Please refer to our selection guide for comparisons. EN24 is a very popular grade of through-hardening alloy steel, which is readily machinable in the “T” condition. (Refer to our machinability guide). EN24T is most suitable for the manufacture of parts such as heavy-duty axles and shafts, gears, bolts, and studs. EN24T can be further surface-hardened typically to 58-60 HRC by induction or nitride processes, producing components with enhanced wear resistance. In addition to the above, EN24T is capable of retaining good impact values at low temperatures, hence it is frequently specified for harsh offshore applications such as hydraulic bolt tensioners and shipborne mechanical handling equipment. EN24 sections larger than 250mm may still be available in the quenched and tempered condition, but it should be noted that a fall-off in mechanical properties may be apparent approaching the center of the bar. It is therefore recommended that larger sizes are supplied in the annealed (softened) condition and that quenching and tempering are carried out after initial stock removal. This should achieve better mechanical properties towards the core.</p>

EN24 steel is widely used in gears, pinions, shafts, and spindles in the automotive and machine tool industries. Production of parts such as locomotives, cranes, rolling mills, coal cutters, etc. Die casting and hot metal processing, such as mold support, racks and gears, needle angle die casting, Hot stamping of stamping dies, aluminum and steel stamping die beds, low temperature nuts, bolts and rivets. Widely used in plastics, rubber molds, hobs and combination mold buckles, mold stop pins, etc.

Preheat carefully, then raise temperature to 1000-1100°C for forging. Do not forge the steel below 850-1100°C. After forging cool slowly preferably in a furnace.

Forging

Heat slowly to 840-860°C, soak well and allow to cool with the furnace to 580°C, before withdrawing.

When parts are heavily machined, ground or otherwise subject to cold work, stress relieving will be beneficial prior to hardening. Heat carefully to 650-670°C, soak well before cooling in the furnace or in the air.

Stress Relieving

EN24T is supplied ready heat treated. If further heat treatment is required annealed EN24 should be heated slowly to 830-850°C and after adequate soaking at this temperature quench in oil. Temper as soon as tools reach room temperature. Hardening from a neutral salt bath, will reduce the possibility of scaling or decarburisation. Heat to 830-850°C and after equalisation quench in oil.

<h2>EN19&nbsp;Alloy Steel Supplier &amp; Stockist in UAE</h2><p>EN19&nbsp;is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel. The chromium content provides good hardness penetration, and the molybdenum content ensures uniform hardness and high strength. EN19 chrome-molybdenum steel can be oil hardened to a relatively high level of hardness. The desirable properties of the EN19 include superior toughness, good ductility, and good wear resistance in the quenched and tempered conditions. The EN19 cold finished annealed chromium-molybdenum alloy steel can be heated using various methods to yield a wide range of properties, hence it is often used as stock for forging as it has self-scaling properties. EN19 is capable of resisting creep in temperatures up to 538°C (1000°F) and maintaining its properties even after long exposure at comparatively high working temperatures. The EN19 cold rolled rounds are available in the 4140 variant that contains 0.15-0.35 lead. The lead content improves machinability but has a significant effect on other desirable properties.</p>

EN26W Alloy Steel

EN26 is a 2.5% nickel – chromium – molybdenum high hardenability, high tensile steel, generally supplied hardened and tempered in the tensile range 1000 – 1150 Mpa (Condition V) Rc 31 – 38. Characterized by high strength and toughness in very large sections – similar to EN25 but with higher carbon content, particularly suitable where high surface pressure exists. Prehardened and tempered EN26 can be further surface hardened by flame or induction hardening, and by nitriding. EN26 is used extensively in most industry sectors for applications requiring higher tensile and yield strength than 4140, 4340 or EN25 can provide. Typical uses are Axles, Connecting Rods, Die Holders, Hydraulic Shafts, Spindles, Motor Shafts, Pins, Rams, Rolls, Sockets, Tool Holders, Torsion Bars, etc.

Highly stressed components of large cross-section for automotive, and general engineering applications, such as Shafts, connecting rods, pump and gear shafts, Die Holder Blocks, heavy forgings where optimum strength is required.

Heat slowly to 790-840°C. Hold until the temperature is uniform throughout the steel. Cool in a furnace.

EN26W is supplied ready heat treated. If further heat treatment is required annealed EN26 should be heated to 820-850°C and hold until the temperature is uniform through the section. Quench the EN26 steel in oil, water or polymer as required.

EN26 can be flame or induction hardened to obtain a good surface hardness.

EN30B Alloy Steel

EN30B is a 4¼% nickel air/oil hardening steel. It achieves a good through hardness with high strength and toughness. It is capable of taking a good polish and is widely used as plastic Mould steel.

Gears, shafts, high duty bolts, high duty spindles and other demanding maximum strength, toughness or wear resistance. This steel is shocked in the annealed condition, to render machining possible, and must be heat treated as follows: harden in air (or oil for larger sections over 2½” diameters) from a temperature of 810°C / 830°C. Temper, if desired, at a suitable temperature nor exceeding 250°C.

Heat the steel carefully to the forging temperature of 1000-1100°C, soak well. After forging, cool slowly in a furnace to 100°C maximum and anneal immediately.

To obtain the softest condition heat carefully to 630-650°C. Soak for a minimum of 2 hours, then cool in the furnace or in air. It is advisable to repeat this treatment to obtain the best machining characteristics.

Where the machining operations have been severe, we recommend stress relieving EN30B alloy steel before finish machining and hardening. Heat carefully to 630-650°C then cool in the furnace or in still air.

Heat uniformly to 810-830°C and when thoroughly soaked at this temperature cool in air or quench in oil according to mass. Hardening from neutral salt baths will help to prevent scaling or decarburization and is strongly recommended. Pre heat at 300-400°C, raise to the hardening temperature of 810-830°C, quench into salt standing at 300-320°C. Withdraw and cool in air. Alternatively, tools may be vacuum hardened. If desired, hardened and tempered tools can be cyanide hardened to give a shallow carburized case to die surfaces with increased hardness values up to Rockwell C56-60. Temper as soon as tools are hand-warm.

Re heat to the relevant tempering temperature. Soak for at least 2 hours per 25mm of ruling section. Withdraw from the furnace and cool in still air. Typical Analysis

Heat slowly and begin forging at 1000-1050°C. Allow sufficient time at the forging temperature for the steel to be thoroughly soaked through. Re heat as necessary and do not forge below 850°C. After forging EN31 steel, cool slowly preferably in a furnace.

EN31 is usually supplied in the annealed and machineable condition. Re-annealing will only be necessary if the steel has been forged or hardened. To anneal, heat the EN31 steel slowly to 800-810°C, soak well and allow to cool in the furnace.

When parts are to be heavily machined, stress relieving will be beneficial prior to hardening. Heat the EN31 carefully to 700°C, soak well and allow to cool in air.

Heat slowly to the hardening temperature of 800-820°C. Maintain until thoroughly soaked through. Plenty of time must be given for this soaking and then quench in oil.

Temper according to the purpose for which the tools are required, generally between 150°C and 300°C. Soak well at the selected temperature and soak for at least one hour per 25mm of total thickness. Case hardening can be carried out in salt baths with selected content depending on the type of salt and the depth of penetration required. EN40B (722M24) is a chromium-molybdenum based engineering steel grade from Thames Stockholders which is often delivered in the hardened and tempered condition. 709M40 is a 1% Cr-Mo medium hardenability general purpose high tensile steel. It is generally supplied in the Hardened and Tempered condition in the tensile range of 850 – 1000Mpa (T Condition) but can be heat treated to 700 – 1200Mpa dependent on section size (R – W Condition). This alloy is used in most industry sectors for a wide variety of applications. Typical uses include Drive shafts, couplings, bolts and gears, together with many surface and sub-surface components in the oil and gas industries. This grade also has reasonably good impact properties at low temperatures and can be good for some elevated temperature uses. 709M40 can be further surface hardened by either flame or induction hardening methods, giving case hardnesses in excess of 50 HRc.

To forge pre heat the 826M40 carefully, then raise the temperature to 1150-1200°C and hold at temperature until thoroughly soaked and suitable to forge. Do not forge below 850°C. After forging the 826M40 should be cooled slowly.

Heat the steel slowly to 790-840°C. Hold until the temperature is uniform throughout the steel. Cool in a furnace.

826M40W is supplied ready heat treated. If further heat treatment is required annealed 826M40 should be heated to 820-850°C and hold until the temperature is uniform through the section. Quench the 826M40 steel in oil, water or polymer as required.

826M40 can be flame or induction hardened to achieve a good surface hardness.

Heat the 826M40 component to the required tempering temperature between 450°/660°C and thoroughly soak for two hours per 25mm thickness of section, cool in still air.
